Flora Farm

A German Ginseng Farm

The healing power of Ginseng has long been known in parts outside the Asian continent. In the past this rare plant was paid for in gold and only available to kings and queens. At the beginning of the 1980s the Lower Saxon farmer Heinrich Wischmann brought the plant to Germany and started to grow them on 9 ha. He managed to cultivate the Ginseng for medical purpose. On a guided tour you will learn about the beginning of Germany´s smallest pharmacy industry and the medical effect of Ginseng, which is sold as roots, pills and cosmetics at the farm shop.

By the way, Flora Farm will represent Germany (together with 364 other places) internationally as »Land of Ideas« in 2009.
