Friedensreich Hundertwasser is said to be one of the most wilful artists. His ideas are expressed in numerous pictures and in architecture. Uelzen station is one example. It was planned as an EXPO project and combines art and ecology in a very functual way.
The station was opened on November 25th 2000. Since then it has become a tourist attraction with over 450.000 visitors a year. A guided tour may be booked but even a spontanious stroll round the station will stimulate your imagination.
